Birthday Parties

This is the first year since Molly & Lindy have been going to school that one or the other hasn't been sick. Since their birthdays are only 3 days apart and they are in the same class room I only take treats in once. This year it happened to be on Lindy's birthday.

(Next year it will be Molly's turn)

Treats for the day were dirt cups complete with gummy worms.

The kids in the class room love having parties.

Mamaw even came to enjoy the day.

Party #2 was on Saturday the 21st.

They invited all their freinds & family

to the skating rink.

Lindy had a blast.

Molly too.

The highlight for the kids was when Mrs. Mobley,

their teacher stopped by. Here is one of her kiddos.

Each year I take time to thank the two

women in China who choose life.

I will be ever so grateful they did.

And I also thank God for

blessing us to be these two

sweet girls parents.

If it weren't for those two ladies and

God guiding us to adoption at the right moment

in time....

Molly Is 7!!!!!

Today was Molly's 7th birthday.

She requested spaghetti for supper.

She also got to be the teacher at school.

(she earned it through ar reading)

Molly facts:

she is 47.5" tall.

weights 43 pounds.

(don't know why, she eats like a horse)

She LOVES to read and

anything art/crafty.

She gets nearly straight A's

and loves doing school work.

Her favorite thing to do is

draw and create artwork.

She takes art & piano lessons.

Enjoys soccer and basketball.

She is a big help to her sister

with school work. If

you ask her Lindy is

her best friend.

Soon we will celebrate 6 years

with Molly in our family.

The time is flying so fast.

Lindy celebrated her 7th birthday

on Jan 20.

She requested Subway for supper.

(yes she ate the whole sandwich)

I can't believe how far this little one

has come in the 4 years

she has been with us.

Some Lindy facts are:

she is 45.25" tall

weights 50 pounds

Loves horses and

being outside.

Even though she gets very good

marks at school she prefers

watching tv to studying.

She is taking dance and

piano lessons.

Enjoys soccer and basketball.

She has lost 7 teeth so far.

She is a complete delight to

have around. Always cracking

a joke on someone and has the

biggest laugh ever.

And best of all she is Molly's

best friend.

We are very blessed.

Christmas Eve Mass was pretty full, so the

girls sat in the pew in fornt of us.

They are getting so big now and follow

the music and reading in the book so well.

It is the fist time in many years that all the

Got up pretty easy this morning.

Ate cereal.

And anxious to get dressed.

They were a little worried about where to go once at school.

So, I walked them into school and waited with them

for instructions from the principal.

Last year the kids' room was the closest to the front door.

I kid you not, this year it is the farthest!!

Lindy is ready to start her day!

Their first day went very well.

It was learn the rules day.

They both really like their teacher, Mrs. Mobley.

Molly had her first ER visit.

She crashed into another kid and her glasses cut her cheek.

They cleaned it and glued it up.

Her glasses were not harmed!

So that's it so far.

But summer isn't over yet.

Molly's First Tooth Fairy Visit

When Molly had her last cleaning at the dentist they told us she would most likely NOT loose her bottom teeth. The permanent ones were growing in behind the baby teeth. She would probably have to have them pulled at some point.

Sure enough them came in just as the doc said.

Double teeth. She started complaining about them. So we had to tell her what the doctor said. But she was ready to call and have them pulled. I told her we would after vacation.

BUT....

Look what happened!!!

She worked and worked on that tooth until it came out on it's own!

Yeah!!

She was so proud too.

The next morning I asked her what she got...

"Not much, just a dollar. Probably because it was a little tooth"

Hummmm......

Spring is trying to make it's way here.

We are all so ready for some nice weather.

The girls start soccer this weekend and they are excited about that.

We had one warm day last week and Molly wanted to go buy a pool tat day. They are looking forward to the pool we plan to get. I just hope I can learn to keep the water clean.

I have uploaded spring school pictures with this post.

They turned out really good.

Molly looks to be 10 years old!!

But she is only 6. Oh, how I'd love for them to stay this age for a long time.

Lindy is also growing so fast. She is nearly wearing the same size as her sister now. But is still an inch or so shorter. They got to pick out their favorite pose for these pictures. The photographer took their picture together too. They love each other so much. It's hard to believe that their kindergarten year is winding down. Time is just whizzing by. Even faster now that I am working 4+ hours everyday. I have now been at my new job Ice Cream Eddies for about 2 months and I love it. I like my hours, my bosses and those I work with. All is good. Well, I don't much care when there is a huge line waiting for food, but still I like it. And the food & ice cream I get to sample ain't bad either! I smile every time I am out somewhere with the girls and we have ice cream. Molly & Lindy like it but... "it ain't as good as yours momma"

Molly & Lindy needed new dresses for our nieces' wedding coming up in May. So I decided to let them pick out sometihing from the catalog at The Attic. They will also wear them for Easter. They both choose hot pink. Of course we had to then get new shoes!!

Rita (owner of The Attic) asked the girls to

wear their dresses in a childrens fashon show. It was to benifit the Hope Pregnacy Center.

The girls did a great job and were so stinkin cute!! My friend, Shea french braided their hair and we even had to get their nails painted at the salon!! Well, they asked an what's a mommy to do?

This year, on Feb 5th, we had a great time celebrating the new year with lots of adoption friends. Over 1oo people were on hand to visit and eat a Chinese meal together.

So I thought Lindy would love basketball and Molly would complain.

But, no, Molly LOVES it!!

No school on Lindy's birthday due to bad weather. But we ventured out to the local Chinese restaurant for lunch on her big day. She asked for "China food".

Then on Saturday we had the family over for a pizza & cake party.

Both girls asked for a doll cake.

So, of course, mommy made them one.

I cannot believe they are 6 years old.

then on Molly's actually big day we took it easy. We went to Wendy's after church...

yes, that is what she wanted. Se asked to then go to the donut bank for dessert but they were closed. So we bought donuts instead.

Another Christmas Post

Man, what a busy December we had. With all the holiday prep there is to do and two 5 year olds, and putting in a few extra hours at work, it went by like a blur.

Ellen & Mike stayed with us. Molly & Lindy were so excited to have them here.

Mike & John were hunting a lot. We had Christmas with the Rafferty's on the 23rd. Kate & Josh hosted us all and we had some good grub! We went to Mass on Christmas Eve. That evening we had a blizzard. Then everyone was up pretty early on Christmas day. Everyone must have been on the nice list because Santa left some pretty good gifts. Molly was so worried about getting "colt" (aka coal) from Santa. Then we headed to my parents for Christmas day. We opened gifts, fixed a yummy lunch and took some family pictures (coming in the next post). Before I knew it it was time to head back to Mt. Carmel to see Johnny & Pam before they had to leave town. Shew... I'm tired just remembering it.

We had a wonderful Christmas.

Yeah, I know I'm way behind in posting the happening around here. Life is fast paced now a days. It is a good life, just busy! :)

We had weekend guests during the holidays. Mike, Ellen, John, Hunter & Faith stayed here and we fixed a pretty good meal (even if I have to say so myself). It was so fun having them. Yes, it's a little cramped, but that makes it fun. So much in fact that they are coming from Christmas too! Molly & Lindy loved all the play time with their cousins.

On the last day of school the kindergarten grade had a big feast together. The girls were lady Pilgrims.

They got to line all their desks in the hall and eat a feast just like real Pilgrims & Indians.

A lot of napping and orneriness went on over the weekend.

I have to give it to Ellen for playing monopoly with the younger ones!!

The favorite game of the weekend was Uno.

Grandma napped as well. :)

A few weeks ago we visited the

Pumpkin Patch in Fairfield.

Mamaw came with us and we had a great time.

The hay ride was a little dusty!

It stopped at the patch and the kids picked their own pumpkins.

They really enjoyed that.

The girls have settled into school nicely.

They love going, but I sure miss them.

I'm doing some backtracking here.

The month of August has flown by.

So many changes in our house.

My babies are starting kindergarten

and I am starting a job!

So, on the last free day before school and work started

the girls and I spent the day in Evansville.

I had their pictures taken.

(see previous post)

Then we had ice cream at

Cold Stone Creamery.

The girls had not had it before.

I'm pretty sure they liked it!

We hit a few stores in the mall. They each

picked out some really cool slippers for winter.

And of course they had to play in the play area.

Always a fun stop to make.

We ended the afternoon with a meal at the food court

and a ride on the carousel.

Tomorrow is meet the teacher day and I start my job.

I will be working at a new restaurant here in town.

The Nostalgia.

I will be serving tables!

(yikes, I've never done it before)

And taking my turn washing dishes.

I've actually been at it for a few weeks now.

At first I was a total mess of nerves. But as

in any job, you get used to it.

So far I am only working three days a

week and I am off each day

in time to pick the kids up from school.

I am excited that I found something

that fits the time frame that I

wanted to work.

And school is going good as well.

The girls like their teacher and so far

they have been ready and willing to get moving each day.

The Lord has blessed me

so much in my life.

And once again He has came through again!

Fun at the Park

A good friend, Krista and her mom Gloria, was in town to see a friend of theirs. We were able to meet them at the park for a little play time before their lunch date.

Last Summer Play Date With Friends

We spent a day with friends at the Children's Museum

started. We met at McDonald's and then

Tuesday August 17 was meet the teacher day.

I was sad because I could not go with them because I started a new job today (more in that later).

So daddy took them. They were excited to meet

Mrs. Smith and see their school.

They also had to take their school supplies.

So, with their backpacks full and a sack full of goodies, they were off.

Daddy did take some pictures....

but not a one of Mrs. Smith.

They told me they liked their classroom.

The first day of Kindergarten!!

I had been talking about a new routine for our mornings for a few days.

The girls were quick to go to bed the night before, a good sign that our morning would be more pleasant.

Sure enough they woke before the alarm and Lindy greeted me eagerly with "how about our routine mommy".

So, first we have breakfast.

Most of the time it will be cereal.

Don't forget the vitamin!

Then they brush their pearly whites.

Wash faces then get dressed and fix hair.

Then if there is time left, then they can turn on the TV.

But this morning we sat on the couch and read the book from Mrs. Smith.

The Kissing hand is a great little story about a raccoon going to kindergarten for the first time.

They are going to South School. The hallways

are all painted with cartoons. They love them.

We made our way to the gym.

Squeezed in with all the other kindergarten students and waited for the principle to speak.

Then all the students went to their classrooms.

Lindy & Molly found their desks.

Here is where we left them that first day.

I think there is 19 kids in their class.

There were no tears by the way from kids or mommy.

Second day of school.

The girls could not wait to get home.

There was something in the backpacks....

"You'll see mommy"

They made raccoon masks after reading the Kissing Hand book.

With only two days in they are doing well.

The only complaint is that it is hot.

The classroom is air conditioned, but nowhere else.

And they liked lunch better today than yesterday.

Of course they'd like to take their lunch everyday, but I really think they will eat pretty good at school. So we'll just play it by ear.

So, look out South School, the Rafferty girls have arrived!!

First Tooth Fairy Visit

Lindy has had a loose tooth for quite some time. She has been wiggling it herself. I noticed that the permanate tooth was coming in behind it so it didn't take long before...

Mom, my tooth fell out!!

So, it's finally bedtime. The tooth is neatly wrapped in a tissue and placed in a bag.

This is after we had to scrub the "bud" off the tooth.

I'm going to sleep now...

She is hoping the TF brings her a "shiny coin"

So, the next morning she finds the tooth and tissue is gone. But in the bag is a

"one and a one ($2) and a shiny coin"

Now she was worried about the tissue.

"why did she take the tissue momma?"

To which Molly answered...

"maybe the TF needed to blow her nose"

I thought that was a good answer.

Fancy Nails

It has been a slow July around here. Even though the time is flying by it seems we haven't done much this month. It has been unbearably hot so we have been inside most of the time. We've been to a few pool parties and to a movie, but other than that it's been pretty boring around here.... NOT!! Never boring with these to!

Lindy loved them! She pranced around like a queen.

Molly liked them too. Of course they looked even better with there "diamond" rings momma got them.

Holiday World 2010

We had sorta decided that we were not going to HW this year. But when I won 2 tickets from the local radio station we changed our minds. The weather has been so hot that I was dreading it very much. But on the day we had planned to go mother nature gave us (old folks) a break. The temps were in the upper 80's. Yay!

My nephews tagged along with a few buddies. It was a long day but we had a great time. This year we spent a lot of time in the water park.

Again this year the kids loved the Turkey Whirl!!

Picking Blueberries

Okay, so picking blueberries on one of the hottest days of the weeks was not Molly & Lindy's idea of fun. But with a promise of going to the splash park after we headed out to the patch. They did a great job for about a half hour. We were able to pick about 2 gallons.

A few days later their Aunt Donna came to go blueberry picking. The girls decided to stay home with their daddy! Not for them I guess!!
And they are yummy by the way!!

Swimming With Friends

The girls were invited to a swim party about a week ago.

The party hosted by Carol was at our friends Andrea & Dwayne's home.

They have a awesome pool.

Does this look like a potty to you????

Well it did to Molly a few nights ago.

The girls had been asleep a few hours and I was in the back of the house when I heard one of them walk through the hallway (the bathroom is in the hall).

I go to check... no kid in there.. where did she go???

I look in the dark living room and see a head moving in there.

"Molly what are you doing?"

Just as I said it I knew what she was doing!!!

She had her jammies down and she was sitting on the blankets and pillows!!

As I hurry in there I can hear pee hitting the floor!!

I pull her off...

"Molly!! You're not in the bathroom!"

"Sorry" she replies in a very sleepy voice.

(Of course I'm worried about the basket she is peeing all over. Luckily it was protected by the blankets)

I couldn't stop laughing even as I cleaned up the mess and all the next day when I had a mountain of laundry to wash.

She didn't even remember it the next morning.

We celebrated mom & dad's birthday on Saturday this year. We fixed hamburgers on the grill.

Molly & Lindy wanted to make a rainbow cake. So we did.

Molly Got Her Glasses

Molly got her glasses last Thursday.

Isn't she cute?

I think it will take me a while to get use to seeing her with them.

When we left the office she stood at the top of the steps and said "the steps are tippy".

I am so proud of her. She has put them on and not taken them off.
I feel bad because obviously she can see a lot better or she would complain. She puts them on first thing in the morning too.
We have been back a few times for adjustments already.
She is proud of them!

VBS

@ St Sebastian Church

All last week the girls attended VBS at St. Sebastian Church.

They really seemed to enjoy it this year.

On Sunday morning they had a program.

The kids did a great job.

They tie dyed their shirts.

You think she's bored?

After mass some of the teachers

commented on them. Last year they were quiet

and subdues. Not this year.

I guess they couldn't shut Lindy up!

(I love it)

Everyone loves these girls.

We are SO blessed!!

First Eye Exam's

So, for kindergarten the girls

have to have several exams. First up is the

eye doctor. I have learned

from the past that it is sometimes better

to take the girls separately to the doctor.

You see, they squabble over who will gets to go

first. then when it is time to actually GO first

they decide that neither wants to go first.

Since the eye doc was here in town

I had appointments for each of them.

Molly went first last Friday.

Lindy stayed home with daddy.

You would have thought we were going to

be gone a week the way they acted.

Lots of hugging & kissing between them.

(way too cute)

And Molly even got a picture of herself

for Lindy to hold while we were gone.

(even cuter)

Lindy followed us to the car for one last hug.

On the way there Molly said she was going first so

she could tell Lindy all about it.

"So she won't be scared mom"

(gotta love that one)

She enjoyed the toys in the waiting room

until it was her turn.

She did really well here.

But here is where the exam went south!
Yep, she couldn't see out her left eye too well.
I think it was her left eye!!
Could have been her right... I was so floored
that she wasn't seeing to good that I
could have that wrong.

With some adjusting she could see
well out of this thing.

I had no clue that she would need glasses!

Cheer Clinic

Last week the girls went to a

cheer clinic at the high school.

Of course they didn't want to go but

had a good time.

I don't particularly want them to like cheer leading. I'd rather they play a sport or an instrument. But I thought they would like it. It also gets them into groups and making new friends.

It's a good thing they were his nasty work clothes.

Have you ever seen such a sight?

Do you think men do this sort of thing on purpose so it doesn't become a chore for them? Dave honestly didn't see a problem with his technique. His response was: "they're dry ain't they?" Can't argue with that. :)

We have made some awesome friends over the years through the adoption process. It is great when we can get together and let the kids pay and visit with each other. Last weekend we met at a park. We were able to see old friends and meet new ones. And this year we had TWO new little ones to enjoy this picnic.

Relay For Life

We always try to get to the Relay or Life

every year. This event means a lot to my mother in law.

She is a survivor (I forget how many years).

And David's dad lost his battle with

cancer several years ago. As the survivors started

the relay with the first lap, Dave & I were taken aback

by how many people we knew.

Cancer effects everyone in this country one

way or another.

She is surviving breast cancer.

Cake Balls

So, I've been wondering what I can do with my cake scraps. A friend of mine introduced me to a blog. I just love all this gal does. You should check it out here.

Of course I'm not as talented as baker*lla, but I was pleased with the results I got. I shared them with my quilting club friends and everyone seemed to like them too. So, I think I will add them to the list of goodies I offer for parties and such.

Memorial Holiday 2010

David actually got to take the Holiday off as scheduled. He has been working such long hours lately. We really was looking forward to him being home.

Friday evening we told the girls we were going on a adventure on Saturday. They were almost too excited to go to bed. After a lot of questions I told them we were going to Cave In Rock. Well they had no clue and wanted to know all about it. I told them it was a surprise and they could just think about it. So Molly decided that she needed to think like a rock!!

So after cake deliveries were done the next morning we set out on our adventure. Of course we had the typical questions like"is it long" from Lindy.

As we got closer to the hills Molly would comment about the "beautiful view".

We started our day eating at the Fish House Restaurant in Elizabethtown. We love this place. The best fish ever! Then we headed to Cave In Rock. The girls fell asleep on the way there. I wondered what sort of mood they'd be in when we woke them.

But they were ready and excited to see what the big fuss was about. It was a beautiful day. Just a tad hot for me, but we sat out walking around the park. We made our way down toward the river and the girls were loving all the rocks and steps along the bank.

They were anxious to walk into the cave. It was slippery so Dave took them in where you can look up and see the light. They really liked the cave.

Then we headed to Pounds Hollow.

I remember going here when I was a kid not much older than they are.

There is a beach area and several picnic places.

It being such a hot day I thought we could wade in the water to cool off.

The girls would have loved to build a sand castle. But I didn't want them in the sand.

But they had a great time looking for "she shells"

Good thing I had a change of clothes int he car. Next time we will pack a swimsuit!

It was a really good drive. We are hoping for another

adventure real soon.

On Monday my family fixed fish at my parents house.

Dave took a few bikes to putter around on. I can't believe my dad rode one.

Pre-K Is History!

1st day of Pre-K.

Last regular day of Pre-K.

I was so sad this day. My babies are growing up and I can't stop it!!

I'm very proud of the accomplishments these two have done while attending pre school.

I think they will do well in kindergarten.

On Wednesday the 26th, the Pre-K classes had a "beach day" for the very last day of school.

So we lathered on the sunscreen and away we went. Of course I founds a chair in the shade most of the time.

Mostly they just wanted to play in the sprinkler.

The school treated the families with pizza.

So, now we are getting all their physical appointments made for kindergarten.

Lindy is worried that she will need a shot.

They will see a dentist, eye doctor and their pediatrician.

Big Truck Night

For the last few years my hometown has had a big truck night at the school for the kids. We happen to be visiting my parents on this day so we got to take the girls for a bit. They had lots of activities for they to do. There was kiddie train rides, popcorn, cotton candy and pizza.

They also got to visit several emergency vehicles. Like a police car, firetruck and ambulance where they got a pair of rubber cloves!

They enjoyed it a lot.

And best of all it was FREE!!

Gymnatstic Spring Performance

Molly & Lindy have been in gymnastics since August of last year. Their last class was a Spring Performance. They got to show off all they have learned for their family. The best yet is each kid got a certificate and trophy. Lindy was excited.

Because if you remember she was not happy with JUST a ribbon for the cartwheelathon that they participated in last December.

So, she was looking forward to this day...

One last pre school birthday party

for this year. I am so sad that

my girls are growing up. I know it is a fact of life

but nevertheless I am sad.

Just this morning Lindy complained

about her teeth hurting. After looking her

over, I discover that her two lower front teeth

are slightly loose. Oh my!! Yet another

reason to sigh!! This summer

will fly by and come August I will no longer

have my kids at home. They will be

full time students.

(a deep breath & a big sigh)

Maddie had a swim party. Molly is not as afraid of the water as much as she use to be. Thank goodness. They even ditched the rings at the party.

My girls are growing up so fast. I can't hardly stand it.

I had a wonderful day.
These precious girls surprised me with cards from school and
lots of hugs and kisses. The best gift of all!!

Wet Oatmeal Kisses

One of these days you'll explode and shout to all the kids,

"Why don't you just grow up and act your age!"

And they will...

Or, "You guys get outside and find something to do --

without hurting each other And don't slam the door!"

And they don't.

You'll straighten their bedrooms until it's all neat and tidy,

toys displayed on the shelf, hangers in the closet, animals caged.

You'll yell, "Now I want it to stay this way!"

And it will...

You will prepare a perfect dinner with a salad that hasn't had all the olives picked out

and a cake with no finger traces in the icing and you'll say,

"Now this is a meal for company."

And you will eat it alone...

You'll yell, "I want complete privacy on the phone.

No screaming, Do you hear me?"

And no one will answer.

No more plastic tablecloths stained.

No more dandelion bouquets.

No more iron-on patches.

No more wet, knotted shoelaces, muddy boots or rubber bands for ponytails.

Imagine.... a lipstick with a point,

no babysitters for New Years Eve,

washing clothes only once a week,

no PTA meetings or

silly school plays where your child is a tree,

no car pools, blaring stereos or forgotten lunch money.

No more Christmas presents made of library paste and toothpicks,

no wet oatmeal kisses,

no more tooth fairy,

no more giggles in the dark,

scraped knees to kiss or

sticky fingers to clean.

Only a voice asking,

Batter Up!

The girls had their first T-Ball game last

Saturday morning. It was a cold morning so we

had to bundle them up. They were both excited but really had no clue

what was going on.

I got the photos backwards.

Here Lindy is coming into home plate.

And here she is batting for the first time!

Here is Molly on third base.

She was the first batter for her team.

She smacked the ball and stood there.

When we finally got her to run she ran all the way

around to third without stopping.

(she was only suppose to go to first)

It is just too cute.

Most of the time they were too busy digging in the dirt!

Aspiring Artists

Molly loves everything about art. Lindy likes it, but Molly LOVES it!! She will spend hours doodling, cutting, taping, and glueing. We have millions of crayons and markers around this house. I even find them in their bed sometimes!!

I surprised them with a package of paints and paint brushes the other day. Mamaw had bought them some huge color pages so we broke out the paints.

(notice the neighbors yard! They have moved out and are not mowing the place. nice huh)

Lindy likes to paint every inch of the paper!

Molly wants to add special effects to her pages. Like polka dots and such.

They did a great job. Molly insists that she is going to be a artist when she grows up. I wouldn't doubt it either. I tell her that she can paint pictures and people will buy them to hang in their homes. She tells me that I can have her first painting and I don't have to pay!! I'm gonna hold her to that!

Fun Under Th Big Top!

The circus came to town last Friday. The preschool class met that morning to watch the elephant raise the big top! The girls were very excited about this.

Then the class went to the park for play time and a picnic.

Lindy can climb up all by herself now.

They really enjoyed the ponies.

Then they rode on the camel.

Lindy said "they stinkeded"!

And she was worried that they don't brush their teeth!!

We were able to get good seats.

Lindy loved the show. I don't think she took her eyes off the ring!!

The elephants were really big for a small circus.

Molly decided that if she "stands behind the elephant that it would poop on her head"

We had a good time. We ended he night with a happy meal!!

Boy, the weeks seem to fly by.

It's been another busy one here.

The girls are getting to spend more time outside.

They love to jump on the trampoline and swing. We go for walks and bike rides when we can.

This week after church we went to Pizza Hut.

Spring soccer is officially over now. Lindy is especially proud of her trophy. The girls had a good time playing soccer. I believe they would do it again. Just when the games were over is when they had started learning a few things!! Now it's time for T-Ball!!

My "Job"

Not long after I graduated

from high school I made and tried

to decorate a birthday cake.

It wasn't to bad I guess, considering I

didn't have a clue what to do.

Then in 1985 I made my first tiered cake,

with LOTS of help from a cake decorator friend.

(It was my grandparents 50th anniversary cake)

And the rest is history!

I have made countless cakes over the years.

For every kind of celebration there is.

Like this castle cake.

For a one year old princess!

And first communion cakes.

as well as many other kinds.

Over the years I only decorated for
family and friends. Working
full time left little time for too
much extra. I still kept pretty busy though.
Then came my precious girls!!
I was able to quit my full time job
to care for them. What a
dream job I have now!!
This allows me to accept more
cake decorating and is now
considered my job too. It is
truly great being able to work from home.

Room Rearrangement

While the girls were at school

today I decided to clean and

rearrange their room some.

Mamaw had bought them posters for

the wall. I had to

move the bed out to hang them, so I cleaned.

You would not believe all the stuff I found under there.

Mostly on Lindy's side of the bed!!

I found empty candy wrappers, broken toys and uneaten vitamins!!

(she admitted to it too)

As well as a million toys and stuffed animals.

They were surprised when they got home

and seem to like the changes,

especially the posters.

Zoo Pet

Lindy says

"Mom, can we go to the zoo pet today....

but I don't want to pet that big chicken!"

Every year some of the high school kids sponsor a small

petting zoo in the Ag shop. Last year Lindy was terrified of the turkey

and remembered that from last year.

This year they had this neat tractor on display.

We thought papaw would like it.

This goat was really friendly.

I couldn't get Lindy to pet many animals.
But she didn't cry this year!

Egg hunt

My Mom's Debut

I am a member of the

Homespun Quilt Club

here in Wabash County. For

the last month our club has had a quilt

show at the local college. I entered

two of my quilts that my mom made.

This quilt she made for me back in 1982.

She hand pieced and hand quilted it all herself.

She calls it the bow tie pattern, but in all

honesty I think it would really be called the spool pattern.

But whatever it is, it is beautiful!

I also entered this quilt affectionately

called "The Sweethearts".

Although she anticipated retirement, she

worried about being bored. I suggested

she get back into quilting.

when I was young I remember her doing a lot of quilting

She wasn't sure she wanted to.

My dad's sister gave my mom a set of embroidery blocks

and the rest is history.

The Sweethearts was her first "retirement" quilt.

She lovingly made it especially for her granddaughters.

It looks so pretty on the girl's bed.

Ok, it's been almost 7 years

since we celebrated my parents

40th wedding anniversary.

We planned a weekend family

trip to Lake Barkley. We had a blast.

I think we tried

every restaurant in the area.

We found ourselves at the Iron Kettle.

everything is cooked in iron skillets and you serve yourself

I got myself a piece of pie, then

I went back for another!

By the time we left I think my

family ate the whole pie.

It took me a lot of botched pies

before I found a recipe like the one

at the Iron Kettle. Every time I make this pie

I think of our trip to the lake.

Buttermilk Pie

1 (9") unbaked pie shell

1 & 1/2 cup sugar

3 rounded tablespoons of flour

3 eggs- beaten

1 stick margarine- softened or melted

1 teaspoon vanilla

dash of salt

1 cup buttermilk

dash of nutmeg

Preheat oven to 350*

Mix margarine, sugar and flour- cream well.

Add beaten eggs & beat well.

Stir in buttermilk, salt & vanilla.

Pour into pie shell.

Sprinkle with nutmeg.

Bake until set and golden brown, about 40 minutes.

Last Sunday the girls used one of their birthday gifts. Their Aunt Donna & family gave them each a gift card for a makeover at Club Tabby in the mall. A place where kids can get made up and even have birthday parties.

So we just made it a girls day out. Mamaw & Aunt Donna went too. We had a great time and was out past bed time too! We shopped till we (or at least me) till we dropped. Had a great meal at T.G.I.F.'s. It was s good day.

They both picked out the princess look.

Molly choose pink spray for her hair. She sat so still and watched everything they did. I can't get her to sit still at home!

Lindy got gold spray. I loved it. We couldn't get her to smile while we were there. Don't know what was up with that.

They each choose a tierra, lip gloss and eye makeup to bring home as part of the package. Then Mamaw bought them each a new necklace too.

Of course we had to check out the play area.

They often take each others hands, but today they were doing this as we walked the mall. Just too darn cute!!

Had a great time, I'm ready to have another girls day out!!

The sun finally showed itself!! It has been the longest winter! The girls could not wait to try their scooters outside.

We went for a ride/walk. They did really well- no crashes!

Birthday Party- Lantern Festival

Molly & Lindy's little China buddy turned 3 during the two week Chinese New Year celebrations this year. Her parents threw an awesome Birthday party- Lantern party in honor of their birthday girl.

Chinese New Year Party

On Feb 27th we attended a Chinese New Year party at The Borowiak's. We always have a great time, great food and great company. All the kids have fun playing together. It is amazing to see God's work in all these precious kids.

Chinese New Year At Pre- K

Molly, Lindy & I celebrated Chinese New Year with their class. I read them a story about CNY and taught them a few Chinese words. We also took color pages about CNY and the year of the Tiger. I took rice, noodles, grapes and bananas for snack. Each kid got their own chopsticks to try and eat with. Molly and Lindy wore their Chinese dresses and I helped the kids make Chinese lanterns. We also gave each one a bag of Chinese goodies to take home, even a red envelope. I think they had a good time.
